Sycamore Schools Receive Fall Grants

The Board of Directors of the Sycamore Education Foundation (SEF) recently awarded over $12,700 in grants to enhance educational opportunities for the students of Sycamore Community School District 427. We want to send a huge thank you to all of our Sycamore Alumni who donated this past year and share our successes with you!

“Through the support of our generous alumni, partners and donors, we are able to provide funding for five special projects during this grant cycle” said Rachel Sauber, SEF Executive Director. “We are so thankful for our community of supporters who make it possible to continue to fund innovation and creativity in our schools. We are excited to see these grants in action, and are looking forward to awarding more grants this spring.”

These grant funds will go to support a variety of projects in District 427 including:

  • A new switcher and control panel for the Sycamore Middle School Video Production classes.
  • Target language novels for the World Language Classes at Sycamore High School.
  • A set of books for the 3rd and 4th grade classrooms at South Prairie elementary school to hold a mock Newbery Medal election.
  • A hammock reading garden for South Prairie Elementary School.
  • New batting cages for the Sycamore High School softball team.

Since 2018, SEF has funded more than $350,000 in grants for Sycamore schools. The Foundation has supported a variety of projects for the District including the library renovation at West Elementary School, a 21st Century collaborative commons at Sycamore High School, digital signage, and the Spartan TV production studio and access channel. Educators, administrators, students, and staff are invited and encouraged to apply for grants in the fall and spring of each year.
